What was the assignment? Compose a ten minute piece? This is possibly
a failure of the instructor to delimit what was wanted.

Once during a long discussion about teaching composition in
university, I was speaking as a teacher, I mentioned the "rules of
composition" or something similar. There was a question as to whether
there were rules for composition .. !!! The knock-down dragout blow
to my point. I replied, "As an academic, which is how I have
contextualized my answers, Yes. But for me, no."
