Ponty is a project for building page number "bridges" across multiple editions of scholarly texts, through concordances and software. The stimulus for the project was Routledge's reprinting of the English translation of Merleau-Ponty's Phenomenology of Perception in a new edition--with new pagination that upsets existing references in the English scholarly literature. So far there are two books in the Ponty project: the Phenomenology of Perception and the Phenomenology of Spirit.
For each book in the Ponty project, there are two components:
A Ponty program looks like this (it will vary for different books):

As you type page numbers in a box for a given edition, the corresponding page numbers in the other editions are automatically called up. In addition, a reference is automatically generated in the Ref box; this can be edited in cases where pg#s are off. Click Copy to stick the reference in the clipboard so that you can paste it into your word processor. Click Fmt to change the string that specifies how the reference is to be generated.
To keep distribution lightweight (it's only 50k), the program doesn't come with a setup program. To manually install: In Explorer, make a folder C:\Programs\Ponty and save Ponty programs from this web page into that directory. Then use Explorer to navigate to that folder, and drag the program from Explorer to the Start button, to get it into your start menu.
N.B.: Ponty is written in Visual Basic 6. If it refuses to run, this means you don't have the "Visual Basic runtime library" on your computer. You can get it free from Microsoft, here. You want to download Vbrun60sp5.exe and run it to install the runtime library. (If you have Windows XP or have already installed or run Visual Basic 6 or VB.NET programs, you shouldn't have to do this.)
The organization of the Ponty project and the Ponty program are by David Morris. Data have been collected by Drew Robinson. The components of the project are copyright David Morris but are freely distributable, so long as you don't modify them, and you leave the attributions intact. Please pass it around and if you find errors or bugs, contact David Morris.

Search Phénoménologie de la perception: The Project for American and French Research on the Treasury of the French Language (ARTFL) happens to have selected Merleau-Ponty's Phénoménologie as one of the source texts in its FRANTEXT database, which is used for research on the French language—another compliment to the quality of Merleau-Ponty's writing. Due to this stroke of luck, you can do a search on the Phénoménologie through the ARTFL site—if your university happens to be one of the subscribing institutions.

IndexAssistant for Word is software that tremendously improves Microsoft Word's indexing functions. Use its intelligent and powerful interface to help you view, maintain and apply a consistent set of index entries, keeping track of the structure of your index as you build it; to mark ranges of pages with one click; consolidate single page index entries into ranges with one click; navigate and edit index entries in your document; and maintain cross references. A tremendous time and organizational saving over Word's own interface when it comes time to index a manuscript.
SplitNotes for Word is a Microsoft Word macro that splits endnotes from a document, putting them in another document, whilst maintaining endnote #s in both documents. This is helpful in cases where publisher require that endnotes be supplied in a separate file.
