contains the basic information for the course. Alternatively, graduate students may consult this
version of the handout . Both textbooks indicated in the handouts are on
reserve at the library. Please also note that both books are known to have a number of typos. See the author's web page for
an errata to G. Folland's Real Analysis , while
refer to a less formal errata to Royden's Real Analysis
due to Geoff (last name unknown).

November 26, 2009 To practice for the final exam, you may use the collection of old exams for MATH 467
which can be bought at the digital store for approximately 68 cents. In addition, here is a list of
Review Problems . These problems will be discussed during the last two lectures

There will be no class on Tuesday, December 1st. There will be a make up class on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, 10:15 am - 11:30am,
Hall Bldg 605 (note that this is the usual time and place). The office hours will also be held on December 8, 2-4pm.

to the midterm . FYI: the mean is 40.25 out of 50 points for undergraduate students, respectively, 46.62 out of 60 points for graduate students.
October 19, 2009 You may use the following old midterms Midterm 2006 and
Midterm 2008 to practice for the examination of Thursday, October 29. The problems
will be discussed in class on Tuesday, October 27. Just be aware that some problems of the old exams do not apply to the material
which you will be tested on. For example, at this time, do not solve problem 1, midterm of 2006 and problem 4,
midterm of 2008.

The date of the midterm exam has been set for Thursday, October 29, in class. The material covered for
this evaluation
consists of Chapters 3 and 4 of Royden, i.e. Lebesgue Measure and Integration.

Assignment #1 (Due September 17 in class, no late assignments accepted!):
Problem 4 (page 55), problems 7, 8 (page 58) and problems 9, 10 (page 64) from "Real Analysis" by Royden. Graduate students
must do, in addition, problem 6 (page 58). Undergraduate students may solve this problem for extra credit.
Solutions
Assignment #3 (Due October 22, in class, no late assignments accepted!):
Problems 3, 7 and 8 (page 89), problem 12 (page 93) from "Real Analysis" by Royden. Graduate students
must do, in addition, problem 5 (page 89), problems 13, 14 (page 93) and problem 24 (page 96).
Undergraduate students may solve any of these problems for extra credit. Solutions
Assignment #4 (Due November 17, in class, no late assignments accepted!):
Problem 3 (page 102), problem 9 (page 104), problem 15 (page 111) and problem 28 (page 117) from "Real Analysis" by Royden. Graduate students
must do, in addition, problem 20 (page 112).
Undergraduate students may solve the last problem for extra credit. Solutions
