Alcor... Restoring your "dot" files

The "standard" versions of the "dotfiles" (files whose names begin with a dot, and which are used to "configure" user accounts) are kept in a directory on Alcor that any user may read; this means that any user can replace her own copies of them, in case of loss or damage. The copies in question are in the directory /local/etc/prodef

The command to copy them back to your own account is:

       cp -p /local/etc/prodef/.[a-z]* ~
(Don't forget the ! if you're using the menushell.) This command will prompt you for every file, asking if it's safe to overwrite the one already in your account. Just answer "y" (yes, do overwrite my file), or "n" (to not copy the standard file over the one on your account).
