Alcor... Berkeley mail

While we don't support the use of Berkeley mail on Alcor, you're welcome to use it if you wish. In this case, you're on your own with the manpage.

The only problem you are likely to run into is finding the program in the first place. This is because, while this program is traditionally found as /usr/ucb/mail, Digital has moved it to another name in Digital Unix (which is Alcor's operating system).

/usr/ucb/mail is really binmail, not the UCB mail program. The UCB mail program can be accessed via the paths /usr/ucb/Mail and /usr/ucb/mailx; to make life easier for our users who are used to invoking "mail", we have created a symbolic link as follows:

/local/paths/mail -> /usr/ucb/Mail

Thus, users who have /local/paths before /usr/ucb in their PATH settings will get the expected behaviour. However, if you are using scripts that expect to use UCB mail, you may have to edit them to get the right program.
