The IITS Systems and Software "Unix Group" consist of the following members.
| The SSG Unix Group, December 1998 |
|
| From left to right: Julie (former analyst, with gun), Dana (former analyst, with pot), Sheila (with bow), Syl (with hammer), Steven (with boxing gloves), and Anne (former analyst, with whip). |
We're responsible for operating systems and application software, which means we have lots of fun things to do. Some of these include installing and upgrading the operating system and related packages, configuring the system to operate securely and reliably, advising on hardware configurations for new purchases, and backing up the IITS Help Line on OS-related questions.
In general, we're the ones who get called in to solve OS-related problems, slay any unwanted dragons, and save the universe. Or at least some of the above. :-)
We sometimes answer user questions, though we ask that you try the Help Line first. If you ask us a question before trying other available resources first, beware!
For a list of the systems we manage, with links to more information about each system, check out the Systems and Software Group page.
