Mercury System Description

The primary system administrator for Mercury is Tony(Tao) Wang. He is assisted by the rest of the Unix Group. Questions and problem reports about Mercury should be directed to the Library.

System Specifications

Mercury is an HP AlphaServer DS25 6/1000 running the Unix operating system. The Unix software is version 5.1A of Compaq's Tru64 Unix, (formerly "Digital Unix", and "OSF/1" before that). The machine has 2048 megabytes of memory and approximately 200 gigabytes of disk storage via a fibre-channel-attached Storage Area Network.

Mercury has two Alpha 21264 CPUs, each with a clock speed of 1000 MHz. The system memory bandwidth is capable of peaks up to 8 GB/second. For more details, please consult HP's DS25 system description page.

The DS25 replaces Digital AlphaServer 4000 5/300.

Software

Mercury runs the Innopac library product by Innovative Interfaces, Inc. The system is known here as CLUES..
