The primary system administrator for Alcor is Sheila Ettinger. She is assisted by Tan Bui and the rest of the Unix Group. System Specifications

Alcor is an HP AlphaServer DS25 6/1000 running the Unix operating system. The Unix software is version 5.1A of Compaq's Tru64 Unix, (formerly "Digital Unix", and "OSF/1" before that). The machine has 2048 megabytes of memory and approximately 200 gigabytes of disk storage via a fibre-channel-attached Storage Area Network.

Alcor has two Alpha 21264 CPUs, each with a clock speed of 1000 MHz. The system memory bandwidth is capable of peaks up to 8 GB/second. For more details, please consult HP's DS25 system description page.

Our DS25 replaces an AlphaServer DS20 6/500, which replaced an AlphaServer 2100 5/250, which had been in service at Concordia since September 1995. Additional background information on the 2100 is contained in the September, 1995 issue of the IITS newsletter, Connect (Vol.1 No. 3). A longer version of the article is available online.
