Alcor... Using the Manpages

Most Unix commands and most applications are documented in the "manpage" (online manual page) facility of Unix.

Regular access to manpages

If you use the menu system, you can choose option "Help With Alcor and Unix" on the main menu, then select the option for Alcor's "online manual pages".

If you use a "regular" Unix shell, enter
man man
at your command line prompt for help on using man pages. In brief, to get a list of manpages for commands whose short description contains a keyword, type
apropos keyword
To read the manpage for a particular command, type
man command-name

Web access to manpages

You can search for a manpage by name.

We also have a content search of the manpages available.

Finally, if you're patient enough to wait for the on-the-fly index to be built, you can browse the manpages by section:
